Mountain hare (lepus timidus)
Another hare that came to pay me a visit. This one was almost silver in colouring and quite distinctive. It was interested in a beautiful white hare sitting close by, but this interest wasn't being reciprocated!
Portrait of a Hare
This wonderful mountain hare came so close to me I couldn't fit the whole animal in the frame, but it did make for a lovely portrait!
Well Hello There!
Mountain hare (lepus timidus) checking me out
Sitting waiting for hares to pass by I spotted this lone red grouse walking across the snow in the distance. Minimalist, but I'm a sucker for images like this!
These two snuggled together before a little fighting and then they mated. The one on the right is "Fidget", the one on the left possibly "Luigi".
Mountain hare (lepus timidus) - fab hare, best experience of 2020!
This hare would leave its form for a few minutes to stretch and wander around before returning to while away the hours.
This hare left its form to have a stretch then started to run, almost towards me, however it then stopped and returned to its form. Strange behaviour, but great!!
Rolling in the Snow
Mountain hare (lepus timidus) - I wish I'd been closer to this hare as it had a roll in the snow, but there again, I quite like the wider angle and it was still a joy to behold!
Mountain hare (lepus timidus) - this is poor Mario who I've photographed a lot this winter in all kinds of conditions. On this day the wind was blowing the fresh snow across the slope covering the hare (and me!) in snow. Tricky conditions.
