  • Mountain Hare Leveret in Heather

    Mountain Hare Leveret in Heather

Mountain hare (lepus timidus) leveret that I've named "Speedy" (because he outran a dog who decided to chase him), grazing on the summer foliage on the hillside. A wonderful little hare, it's been a joy following him these past few weeks.

  • Tiny Tim, Mountain Hare Leveret

    Tiny Tim, Mountain Hare Leveret

The first time I caught a glimpse of this wonderful little hare it was tiny - the smallest I've ever seen. Sadly it disappeared into its form and didn't come back out. I've since spent time with it on three occasions. Very timid (hence the name) but gorgeous!!

  • Mountain Hare Leveret Grooming

    Mountain Hare Leveret Grooming

This mountain hare (Lepus timidus) is cleaning its back paw by licking it. Mountain hare (lepus timidus) leveret who has just cleaned his back paw sticking his tongue out and looking cheeky! This is a hare I know as Goldie due to the fact its form is carpeted in little golden flowers. A fab hare, bags of personality.

    Mountain Hare Leveret, October 2020

This is a leveret I know as Victor (or Victoria!), mostly because it often looks quite grumpy. Victor is a handsome fellow, with wonderful eyebrows. However he never really does very much. I do enjoy his company though, and there's always the possibility he might one day spring into action!

I love these animals. Taken mid-July with the heather already in bloom.

This is a mountain hare leveret I know as Goldie (due to the yellow moss/grass surrounding his/her form). Brilliant hare, very dynamic and full of character.
