There are some fabulous locations for wildlife and landscape photography in the North East of Scotland, only, at most, 90 minutes from Inverness.

We'll spend time in a few different locations depending on what interests you.

Over the summer months we'd hope to see common seals on a sand bank, a chance to see ospreys flying or fishing, a variety of little birds including summer migrants such as warblers, skylark, cuckoo (haven't seen them there in 2022 sadly), swallows, sand martins and house martins plus resident stonechat and yellowhammer.

One area is also great for macro photography in the summer as there's a huge variety of insects and wild flowers.

Outwith the summer season there are beautiful beaches, resident birds and waders.

There are quite a few different locations we can go to depending on your interests, it's suitable for all levels of photographer.

The beach and scrub land is also very photogenic if you are interested in landscapes.  There are also a variety of gulls and waders (such as oystercatcher, little ringed plover and dunlin) to be found on the beaches.

There are no toilet facilities at these locations but we can stop en route and there are plenty of obscured spots.

We aim to be at our first location by 9.30am and to depart from our final destination at approx 4pm.

You can either meet me at our first location or en route (Inverness or somewhere along the A9).  If staying in my self-catering cabin "The Drey Inchberry" I will drive you from there.

Food is not provided, but we can stop off to purchase lunch items if required.  I will bring a flask of hot water and a choice of teas/coffee/hot chocolate plus snacks.

Waterproofs and warm layers are recommended as we'll be in exposed areas. Sun cream & insect repellent advised in the summer.  Good walking shoes/boots too.   Most of the walking will be on paths on level ground or on a beach.

Camera gear:  a long lens for birds and if interested in the insects in the summer then a macro lens.  Landscape gear if that's your thing too.

Price:

£150 - 1 person

£250 - 2 people

If you are staying in my cabin you will receive a 10% discount on these prices.
